My son AJ has Eye-Muscle Muscular Dystrophy. He was diagnosed at 21 months. When I received AJ in foster care before we adopted him at 18 months, we noticed that he had a curved spine. His muscle were also very tight and he was contracting.

AJ getting his massage I was getting my massages from Dena for a while and I asked her if she could work on AJ. She said that she wouldn't be afraid to try and it certainly wouldn't hurt him.

Dena giving AJ a massageWell, AJ has been receiving 1/2 hour massages for the past two years. At his last MD appointment in January 2007 the doctor was very happy to see that he was very loose and not tight and he is not contracting in his muscles. She said whatever you are doing - keep it up, it's working. I explained to her that at daycare the nurses do range of motion everyday with him and every Saturday he gets a 1/2 hour massage from his massage therapist Dena. She smiled and said, "I'm jealous!" then said, "Keep it up because it will help him as he gets older and his muscles may not get tight because we started so young to keep him limber."

AJ in his chairAJ thanks Dena for the work that she does for him and she is absolutely wonderful. It's a great help that she is willing to come to the house so I don't have to pack him up in the wheelchair with all his equipment that he uses. AJ loves her. I have attached a picture of her working on him.

I highly recommend Dena for those special needs children. In fact I have given her name to the people at Child's Way when they move to their new building for those parents that have asked for their kids to get massages.

I have been a client of Dena Vrabel's for the last nine years. I started going for therapeutic massages for some minor problems I was having. I continued occasionally with regular relaxation massages; Dena is very good at combining relaxation with therapeutic or sports massages as needed.

She is also trained to do "Hot Stone" massages as well as "Thai" massage which is a two hour stretching session that uses almost every muscle in the body. I know I have gained flexibility thru the few times I have been able to experience Dena's "Thai" massages. Dena is very professional and experienced and great fun to talk with.

Dena has been my massage therapist for almost 9 years now. Every other week she works my muscles back into shape. I can't imagine how I would manage without her therapeutic touch. I am 75 years old, and Dena helps keep me flexible and able to do my gardening, etc. One of the things that continues to amaze me about Dena is that she always knows just the right place to apply pressure. Whether it is my sinuses, my stiff neck from knitting and reading, an overused muscle from digging or pruning, or one of my many "hot spots" that becomes unbearable, Dena gets right to the root of the problem and makes it bearable again.

And all that BEFORE she became trained to do Thai Stretch Massage! After my first one I told Dena, "That is the best thing you have ever done in your whole life." I felt 25 years younger and could actually walk with a spring in my step for a few days. She stretched muscles I never even knew I had. If you have never had a Thai Stretch Massage, I suggest you give it a try. I recommend Dena wholeheartedly, both as a massage therapist, and a person!

I started seeing Dena ten years ago, when she first started as a massage therapist. I had chronic neck and upper back problems for many years, made worse by the stress of finishing a dissertation and having both parents and a best friend pass away within a short period of time. By the time I saw Dena, I was up for tenure and planning a wedding with my fiancée.

Needless to say, all this stress made the underlying physical problems much worse. I would get stiff necks on a regular basis and felt sore in many different places. I saw a chiropractor for a while and it helped a bit but the problems remained.

Dena's "trigger point" massage made a big difference from the very first session. I remember feeling so good afterward that I decided to take a long walk just to appreciate this new sensation.

Since then I have been getting a massage from Dena every week. The stiff necks have disappeared and most of the tension in the upper back as well.

My wife gets a massage from Dena as well every now and then. I should add that in addition the massage, it is a pleasure to talk to Dean. She is an avid movie watcher and critic. I've grown to trust her critiques of movies more than the newspaper reviews! So, if you want a terrific massage (she now does a wide variety of types of massage) and an interesting, intelligent and witty person to talk to, Dena Vrabel is a good choice for your massage therapist.
